PET Felt Ceiling Boards: Absorption, Fixing and Access

PET felt ceiling boards are usually considered for room absorption, while sound transmission through a ceiling requires review of the complete building element. Clarify which problem the project must solve before selecting a board.

Distinguish the two acoustic tasks

Describe reflected sound within the room separately from noise passing through the floor, ceiling or connecting openings. A felt board’s absorption result does not establish soundproofing or confidentiality. Ask the project designer to identify the relevant performance requirement and assessment method.

Select the installed construction

Confirm the board dimensions, thickness, finish, backing and intended mounting. Identify the product and supports approved for overhead use. Review any cavity or additional layers as part of the assembly and do not transfer ratings from a different mounting arrangement.

Plan services and replacement

Show ceiling equipment and required access on the layout. Agree how boards meet edges and penetrations and how an individual piece can be removed or replaced. Follow the supplied care instructions; avoid assuming every felt finish accepts the same cleaning method.
